Both parents are not U.S citizens. How would I be able to get a social security number & card for the child. The child is 14, if that helps any.

What would be the requirements, pricing, and how long would it take?

  1. You don't.

  2. Ask a Mexican, they can get you anything you want American!

  3. If neither the kid's parents are US citizens, and the kid was not born in the US, he's not a US citizen, right?

If he's currently in the US, and his presence in the US is legal, then he may be able to get a Social Security number depending on the kind of visa s/he is on...

So what kind of visa is s/he on? Or does s/he have a green card?

If s/he is eligible, then applying for a Social Security card is always free. You can review the requirements by reading form SS-5: http://www.ssa.gov/online/ss-5.pdf

Usually you get your Social Security card within 2 weeks of applying.

  4. First call the S.S.Office in your Home Town.

I Think this child will have to, "become a American Citizens first."

The Social Security Office, will guide you, to the steps you must do, to get the number and card that is needed.

Why are you "getting this card(for the 14 year old),and not the parents?"  I'm not sure, who is the guardian for this child!"  Who ever has the birth cert. will have to take it, to the S.S.Office for proof of birth.

    Good Luck.

  5. You need a reason to get a SSN. When he qualifies he can get one.
