The neighbor has 5 cats that wander around..I am not concerned about them . But a new cat showed up a few months ago. He started hanging out with them.

Now for the past 2 days every time I open the door he runs into my house. He heads right for my cats food.

I don't know if he has an owner. But I do know he has fleas. I can't take him to the shelter because here its legal to gas animals.

I don't want him.Nobody knows where he belongs.

I just don't want him coming in.

I will not shoot him, drive him faraway or torture him in anyway so don't suggest that.

I just don't want him coming in.If anyone knows how to do this please help.

  1. Can you put an ad in your local paper? Or at local stores? Offering him to people? Maybe you can try to find him a loving home.

  2. Try putting the cats food and that in a different room, upstairs so he may not know where it is. Also you could try coming out through a different door. Put up signs in neighbor hood's close to yours and call local vets to see if anyone lost him. Sorry to hear about this, best of luck :)

  3. thats great that you dont want to hurt him. we have around 5 strays at our house that just showed up, but they dont run into the house because they are scared of us. if all the cat wants is the food, try putting some food outside for him/her. and to find its owner, if he/she has one, you can put up lost cat posters.

    Good Luck!!

  4. If he is that comfortable running into your house, you can bet he has/had an owner and was an indoor cat, ask the vet clinics or pound if anyone has reported one missing, or put posters up even.

  5. he is lost and hungry. has lived inside. either give him to a shelter, try to find the owner, or feed the poor thing.

  6. You need to make sure that he is not around when you open the door and do not keep your doors open.

With fleas, that can be a health risk.

If you do not want him running into your house, there is not much else you can do aside from calling animal control.

Or find a no kill shelter in your area.

  7. I had a stray wander into my yard like that and start begging to come inside.  She was friendly and unafraid of our dog, so I knew she had belonged to someone.  I checked with neighbors and no one recognized her, so I printed up "FOUND" posters w/the cat's description and my phone number and posted them at stop signs around my neighborhood (where I was sure people would see them).  We found the owner, who came to retrieve her...only to tell my 4-yr-old she could keep the cat if Mommy said it was OK!!!   We still have her.

  8. i don't blame you. my ex had a stray that he called 'Friend.' the thing was deaf and old, his nose would bleed, he'd cough all the time and was a walking flea hotel. unfortunately they liked the cat and let him come and go as he pleased, even though he would raped their little girl cat who was fixed.

put posters up and call the vets and shelters in the area. as for keeping him out, squirt some ammonia near the doors in your house. i know that sometimes deters cats and other animals. unless your cats go outside as well.

good luck! btw out of curiosity, is he friendly?

  9. your only solution is to call the Animal Control people.  The cat is a health hazard, and is exposing you to rabies as well as fleas.

  10. iit might want to have s*x with ur cat lol
