My water heater seal busted and I am trying to replace the water heater. When I try and release the water with a hose the water continues to come back in from another pipe!!! All the power is off in the house, the main water sources is cut off, Im on a well and a flotec pressure tank! What do I do to cut the power off the pressure tank which continues to put water in the water heater!!! Help!!! Please!!!

  1. you need to turn the power off to the pump and take the pressure off the tank/pipes. That will stop the water flow

  2. There should be a shut of valve above the tank.Shut it off open the pit valve on the bottom and drain tank.If there is no valve above the tank you will need to trace the water line back to the pump to find the shut off valve.

  3. If the pump is remote it may be on a different wiring circuit from the house.  If there is no shut off valve between the pressure tank and the water heater and the pump is shut off, you will just have to drain all the pressure though the hose.   You will also get back flow from the house plumbing if there isn't a shutoff valve on that side of the tank.  While you are replacing the new heater install in line valves on both pipes at the heater.  This will make the next heater or element change a simple job.

  4. turn off the power and also turn the main water valve to the house off
