Question:

How do I get an ariel?

I've been working on this no handed cartweel for a long time and i really want to get it!!! i'm like 5'6 so and my legs are more than half my body so how do i get so much of my body over without touching the ground =)

  1. ok, well im pretty sure your height isn't the problem. this is what my coach told me: if you can do a cartwheel and you have the power (which if you've been doingit awhile u prob do) and you still can't do it, it's all in your mind.

    because lets think logically. when you do a cartweel, by the time your hands hit the ground your legs are almost over your body anyway, so if you get a little more power and just don't put your hands down there's pretty much no way you can land on your head. idk it made sense to me and then i just did it.

      Good luck, and don't think you're height is the preventor, you just have to go for it. that's pretty much what gymnastics is all about


  2. well is this on the ground or trampoline? if tramp. it's way more easier i did it on my first try. you just have to start jumping (not to high but not to small, medium like about 2 feet off the tramp.) once you jump a couple of times have your arms in a "X" postion. then push your arms down torward the floor of the tramp. then just let your legs flip over. If you don't own a tramp. and one of your friends do ask her sometime if you could come over to her house to work on a ariel. if your trying to do it on the ground do it first on the tramp. untill you absolutely got it down. then try it on the ground with a spotter VERRY important!!

  3. I had the same problem because im about the same hight. i practiced it on a trampoline first and then when i mastered that i just kind of threw myself and i landed it after a few tries.

  4. At my gym, we teach it by piling a few mats up (about a foot or two high), and tell them to do it off of there. You just have to kick your legs over hard. And I mean HARD. Use as much power as you can! :) Good luck!

  6. learning on a trampoline first is NOT a good idea. youll get used to the feeling of the bounce. doing it on a floor vs a trampoline are completely different. just keep practicing. youll get it eventually if you keep trying. just make sure you push really hard off the ground to make sure you dont touch the floor

  7. try it off of stacked matts... I do gymnastics and that is how we learn them.
