Question:

How do I get anonymous, confidential help for cutting?

I'm 15, and right now I haven't told anyone about my cutting - I do all of it on my hips and on my ribs, where no one can see it. I'm really starting to get worried - I can't stop - but I can't tell my parents; they wouldn't understand.

Thanks for your help, and please be kind...

  1. You really just need to tell your parents. If you have a reason for cutting (pressure, depression, etc) they WILL understand and want to get you help! Your parents love you no matter what and only want to help you. Ask them if you can start seeing a therapist, and tell them it's because you've been cutting yourself. Good luck.

  2. Well the best advice I can give is to tell your parents. I know, I know they won't understand. But guess what...you will be very suprized that they just might understand that being a teenager is hard. They were once your age and even though cutting was not something the probably did when they were young but there were things back then that they had to deal with too. Just go up to them and explain that you have something important to talk to them about. They will be able to help you.

  3. Go to a school counsulor, its confidentual.

I refuse to cut myself... so I hurt my self by hitting all over my body and bruising myself... Its better than cutting.

  4. when i was cutting myself i asked my friends what they would do they helped me get trough it so maybe u can tell ur friends and have them help u out

  5. There's plenty of hotlines. Such as 1-800-273-TALK.

Also, what might help stop cutting is doing pro-active things, not other ways to cause discomfort on yourself. Just keep your mind preoccupied like organizing, exercising, etc. Or you could do things like break plastic plates or scream in your pillow and punch your bed.

If nothing works, then PLEASE get professional help. I hope things get better for you! Good luck!

  6. See a doctor, please.

  8. hey sweetie...i used to cut badly i ended up in the hospital it was a mess...this is what you need to do....i know it might hurt or be hard but this is a right thing to do...okay this is where i went and it works it is soo nice...this site is called ....  http://www.selfinjury.com/  ... on tha home page at the bottom right there is a thing that will say this... NorthPointe Family Center located in Carrollton,Texas houses the S.A.F.E. ALTERNATIVES® Adolescent Expressions™ program....click on that...get all the info on it first print it all out and get everything to gether....then i know you think your parents dont understand and they wont..but go up to them with your packet and tell them what is going on...tell them that you have hit rock bottom and that you are scared....tell them that you want to go to this place that you think that it would be best for you and get them to put you there before it is too late....also tell them that you need to go to the e.r. and then when you get there you need them to clean them and then give you a t.b. shot. then go to that place, it takes a few months but it works and you wont cut again....i hope this helps but this place is really good. just take a look.
