There are services that will pick up you bag and deliver it to you destination for a reasonable fee.   They contract with companies like Fed Ex, but they do the delivery.  This is really great for sports equipment like golf clubs or skis.

Fly Southwest!  They don't charge unless you exceed 2 checked bags.  I fly often and use them when I can!!
