How do I get back in shape for swimming?

I used to be a really good swimmer when I was about 9, and started swimming when I was 6. I've done 25m freestyle in 17.5sec which is still the top record in my state. I've gotten addicted to videogames and since then, I am out of shape, and when I do bench press, I can only do about 80pounds. I am worried because I am going to be a junior in highschool, which is the most important year to prepare for college and since my freshman year, I didnt participate in any after school activities and joining the swim team wouldn't help me at all, I want to be at least top in the county. Please some one help me because I am willing to swim/workout atleast about 2~3hrs per day.

  2. just start up again. start slowly and work up the yardage and the intensity.  also a little weight lifting wouldn't hurt.  good luck.

  3. start by running, biking, and rollerblading. all of this is very helpfull for swim. i swim year round and that is the dryland we do. also get back in the pool at the local y or some place where it is cheap to get pool time. just start swimming. do longer distance as you work up to it. and sprint. it helps!

  4. Get back in to the pool.  It's hard to say you should run or something like that because it uses different muscles.  Also some abs, push-ups, and calisthenics (leg work) should help.

  5. Ok well when i went to jo's i did not swim for about 2 weeks after that and i was out of shape but what you have to do is you have to keep trying hard in practice and then you will be back to normal in about one or two weeks.
