Question:

How do I get back into shape fast post-pregnancy?

I'm 38 weeks pregnant and due to have my baby any day now...finally! I've gained 40 pounds during my pregnancy which is the ideal weight gain for someone as petite as I am. Anyways, I'm a ballet dancer and it's very important to my career that I get back into shape...and fast. I would resort to hiring a personal trainer, but I live in an area where I don't have reasonable access to one. Does anyone know of any special diet and exercise plans that'll help whip me back into shape quickly?

  1. Heya. Dont be starving yourself or you will crash and burn, eat little but often. You are better having 6 small meals a day to keep your matabolism going. You will probably find when you have the baby because you sound quite fit the weight will come off easily. Its hard work looknig after a baby. Power walk with the pram and baby but take it eas6y to start with. All the luck in the world and congrats. xxxxxxxx

  2. As long as you stayed in shape during your pregnancy (i.e. walking and such, just making sure you got some exercise) You shouldn't have any trouble loosing the weight after the baby.   And if you are going to be breast feeding it helps significantly. Just keep eating like you were supposed to during the pregnancy ( and no that doesn't mean eating for two, you are still just supposed to eat for one-your body becomes more efficient-just stick with healthier choices) and try exercising with the baby, like once its a few weeks old go jogging with him/her in the stroller ( pushing a stroller adds resistance!) or when she can hold her head up use her like a weight lifting her up and bringing her back down, you can make it a game for her.  And when she is in the car seat and fussy lean over so one hand is leaning on a counter or something for support and use the other arm to swing the car seat ( think baby swing-only a tough workout) trust me the baby and car seat may be light at first but after a few minutes you will feel the burn!  You can hold her and do squats and lunges around the house.  or do squats when you are folding laundry- like put the basket on the floor and squat down to pick up one item then fold it on the bed

I just recommend those sorts of things since it is hard to find the time to exercise when you have a new baby. ( even if hubby is a big help, you still are always busy/fatigued)  Good luck hun!
