I graduated in the top percentage of my class and was a honor graduated in may 2002. The summer after my graduated I got mixed up with a guy that didn't mean me no good. I did not start college in august,b/c my mother had a major surgery and needed me to take care of her. I became pregnant in October, and didn't start in January. I had my daugher, and started attending college in Jan. 2003 majoring in nursing. I had everything going for me. I had Hope and I got money for pell grants and took out several student loans. I was going through a lot of personal problems at the time. I wasn't concentrating on my work. I didn't go to class half of the time. As a result, I failed the majority of my classes. I lost hope, and i am unable to qualify for student loans since i failed. I havn't been to school now in about 3 yrs. I'm about to be 25 yrs old. I have no job. I look everyday, but no luck. I have no car, and still live at home w/ my parents. My daughter just turned 5.

  1. Try getting and AA and go from there -- you can and will almost always get accepted to a community college. Check out local programs - not just for education but call WIC and other family resource centers in your area. Sometimes they can put you in touch with a local organization that is looking to send someone to school. Also consider working at your daughters school (I also grad in 2002 and had tons of expiation's - I got married at 18 and had a son at 19 who is now 5) I wanted to teach and thought I would never get my degree I got my Montessori teaching cert from a community college and enrolled in Western  Gov. University ( a non profit university for people like us) it is fully accreted and is the only on line school to use FASFA (? sp) )check them out they do an on line assessment  ($50) and give you mentors that will help you till you finish.  They will also help you find fin aid if you don't qualify. tuition is only about 5,000 pr year and the college is run out of Colorado.

  2. Wow.  That's a story.  I'd say keep trying to look for the job.  Maybe try to take one class at a time to re-establish your grade point average so you can get some more financial aid.  FASFA is another resource for financial aid you might explore.  Perhaps look for some need-based scholarships.
