How do I get birds from pooping in my swimming pool?

I have a 24' above ground pool. I have a huge problem with birds pooping in it daily. There are no power lines above the pool and they dont seem to be pooping on the rails of the pool. I have heard that rubber snakes work well, however I am dearly afraid of snakes. Does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone experienced this problem before. I am so tired of cleaning p**p from my pool on a daily basis. Please help!

What if you left a beach ball or other big floaty (not a raft, not scary enough) in the water until you get a cover?  The water filtering should keep it moving around a bit, maybe that'll scare them away.

Well, the snakes are going to be your best bet.  Yet, some birds are also afraid of owls, and you can get replicas of them as well.  Sometimes luring the birds to another part of your yard will distract them, like putting out feed near a bird bath.
