My daughter is going on 4 and has horrible cradle cap again. She has never really gotten over it, but I always use baby oil in the past. Well she has very thick hair and that leave her hair looking greasy for days and sometimes doesn't work anyway. Please give me any advice or things that have worked for you in the past.

  1. my daughter is 2 and 1/2 and had this a month ago. the doctor prescribed a shampoo to be used weekly and then i used dentinox in between but this did not help. i went back to the doctor and she recommended coconut oil. you massage it in, leave it there for an hour and then wash it out with normal shampoo. the scabs then flake out. worked for us. xxxxx

  2. My kids all had cradle cap until they were well over 4.  My doctor told me to use medicated dandruff shampoo (sebulux-but it is hard to find) and scrub the scalp with my fingers while washing and rinsing.  I then comb the scalp with a fine tooth comb.  It comes off easy if the scalp has just been washed.  When I am not using dandruff shampoo, I use Paul Mitchell "Baby Don't Cry" shampoo.  I think it is the shampoos that cause the cradle cap...if I tried using Johnsons Baby, their heads would be full of it.

  3. Dandruff shampoo . . . works wonders !

    Best of luck !

  4. If your daughter is 4 it probably isnt cradle cap it could be something totally different you should talk to her docter about it as soon as possible.

  5. My doctor recommended that we use Head n Shoulders (or any dandruff shampoo) for her cradle cap. It works great! I would definitely try this. Good luck!

  6. It's probably not cradle cap.  If it's been off and on for years it's probably eczema.  Both of my kids have it and it's usually hereditary.  But if you ask your pediatrician about it then that's what they'll probably say.  There are some medicines that you can get for it and it'll take a day or so to clear up but it will clear up!

  7. my 5 month old daughter also has cradle cap and this is what i found that helps out: when you give her a bath put soap in her hair dont get it too sudsy then get either a fine tooth comb or a regular brush and brush her hair(while the soap is still in her hair.) then rinse

  8. Seborrheic dermatitis can occur at any age. It's essentially dandruff. It's called seborrheic dermatitis in infants, or cradle cap, when it occurs under the age of three.

You can treat it with an over the counter dandruff medicine. You just need to be extremely careful doing it because the shampoo can be pretty painful if it gets into the eyes.
