I need this to obtain a US passport. My mother was a US citizen who moved to Japan at age 2 and gave up her citizenship. My father was a US citizen who was in Japan when WWII broke out and was declared a dual US/Japanese citizen. We all moved to the US when I was 3. I think I was naturalized but don't have any info. Both my parents are deceased and I'm an only child.

  1. Contact the Japanese Embassy in Washington DC and see if they are able to help you. If you were born in a hospital and know its name they can help you contact that hospital and get its record-if not maybe they have a data system that can locate this way. Give them your parents names, date of birt, addresses-anything may help them. Do you a birth certificate. Did you check old paper work from your parents? Your old passport? If you were born there and were brought back-then you must have had a passport. You had to have come in with documentation into this country.

    Good luck.
