  1. I agree with #1 and also make sure you have a good ground on the radio.

  2. There are a number of in-line filters and suppressors you can install between the antenna and radio receiver, heck, try Radio Shack.

  3. Make sure your ignition wires are well insulated for starters.

  4. Place a frequency filter between your antennae and the stereo.  The noise comes primarily from your alternator.  The alternator makes A/C electicity, which is then rectified into D/C by a diode in order to charge your battery and power the electical system.  That's why the frequency of the whine goes up at higher engine speeds, as well as the amplitude (volume) of the noise.  You should be able to get a filter to place in the antenna line.  This probably won't work absolutely, but will probably work enough.

  5. You have bad ground loops in your system (car electrical).  Check the ground form you battery to your chassis, and your engine to the chassis.  If bad corrosion exists at these points there is a restriction of current flow return to the battery.  FM and AM static, in the form of whinning engine noise is a result of the ground loop.

  6. switch to FM

  7. Turn the engine off
