How do I get files from my dcr-trv27 camcorder onto my computer? I used a USB 2.0 cable but the computer won't recognize anything.

The Sony DCR-TRV27 camcorder is miniDV tape based. To transfer DV video form the tape to the computer, you need to connect the DV port of the camcorder to the firewire port of your computer.

Install a firewire port in our computer if you don't have one.

Firewire, IEEE1394a, i.Link and DV are all the same thing... not USB - USB won't work.

Transferring video over USB used to work, but the video quality was poor and the drivers have not been supported for a while...
