How do I get from Santo Domingo to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic?

My flight arrives in Santo Domingo. What form of transportation should I use to get to Puerto Plata or any long distance city? And what is the cheapest way?

You can take a comfortable bus ride with Metro Tour Company.  Its about a four hour ride.

Leaving Santo Domingo you have the options of 7:00 am, 9:00 am, 11:00 am, 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm, 5:00 pm, 6:30 pm, 7:00 pm (Sunday Only).  It is about $50 domincan, (each way) which is only a couple of US dollars.

The only other possibility is a cab, which is $90 and raises to $110 between 10P and 6A.

A taxi from airport to Carribe Tours you will pay about 1300 pesos, there you take the bus to Puerto Plata (every hour) and take's about 3 1/2 hours and cost 250 pesos p. person.

1 us dollar = 33 pesos.

Bus is cheapest by far. The buses do not come into SDQ airport though. You will need to take a taxi to a bustop when you arrive at the airport.
