How do I get health care in latin america specifically argentina and chile?

I was wondering how I go about getting health care and more specifically I'm worried about being able to get birth control. Please let me know if you have any idea. Thank you.

  1. I'm not sure what you're really asking. Health care in Argentina is cheaper without insurance than it is in the U.S. with health insurance. For an emergency room visit without insurance in Argentina, you'll spend around 100 pesos, approximately 33 dollars. I'm not sure about birth control, but you can purchase many things in the pharmacy without a prescription that requires a prescription in the U.S., such as antibiotics.


  2. If you're just visiting I rather doubt if you can sign up for a health plan. However, if you're sick just go to a doctor, ask someone for a reference.  Same with birth control, if the pharmacy won't sell them to you over the counter then see a doctor and ask for a prescription.  Or better yet take sufficient with you and if you run into problems have someone in the States mail more to you.
