I have a 17 month old who always liked having me brush her teeth up until 2 days ago and now she flat out refuses! Any ideas on how to get her to open up? I have tried brushing my teeth first, clapping and saying YAY when she tries for a second but nothing has worked yet...any ideas would be great! Thanks

  1. if she always liked it and recently refuses then maybe you should take her to a dentist. maybe something's wrong and it hurts her when you brush? if that isn't the case, try those toothbrushes that plays songs, it may interest her and want to brush again

  2. I have a 19 month old and this was so common for me. You aren't supposed to let them use their own toothbrush because well they can't brush their teeth and it gets them into the habit of thinking of it as a toy. So I tried letting her "brush" my teeth while I brushed hers and this actually does work. But by far the best thing has been to buy her toothpaste. They have this special toddler kind that does not have fluoride in it so it is safe to swallow, the brand I have is Orajel Bubble Burst. And now I put a very tiny, tiny amount on the toothbrush and she lets me brush her teeth! Good luck!

  3. buy her own

    let her play with it

    let her feel like a big girl

    she brushes her teeth on her own

    i did that with my son

    now he loves brushing his teeth

  4. tell her to smile really big and you will tickle her teeth!

  5. let her brush your teeth while you brush hers

  6. get an automatic tooth brush!!
