  1. Do not pay anything for employment listings.  You can go to each cruise line's website and find the link for employment.  If there is no employment link, try the "our company" link.  www.carnival.com   www.royalcaribbean.com   www.princess.com  www.hollandamerica.com   www.celebrity.com   www.costacruises.com   for more cruise lines go to www.cruising.org

  2. there are a couple of websites that you can visit, and they have lots of information about working in a cruise ship..

The first website http://www.cruiselinesjobs.com/  gives you all the information about the open vacancies and then you apply online.

http://www.cruisejobfinder.com/  this website also has open vacancies..

Both websites have all the information you need and the requirements to get the job..

You could be able to find more info. or more websites if you google it.

I know Disney also has that.. if you live in orlando or california and can come for an interview, you can do it. You have to  contact them at their Disney Job line 407-828-1000

    good luck

  3. Depends on what department you want to work. I was in hostpitality for a long time and started in Cruise Ships in the reception (Purser´s desk with Carnival), but after a while I moved on to the shops, which are easy (no work while on Port), pays about the same or more (depends on comission and that depends on the destination and the crowd you get) and has the same treatment (Staff, rather than Crew).

Two large companies control the shops on ships (the exception I remember is Princess, they run their shops)

The advantage of working for a concession is that you are suitched between diferent lines a lot, hence more destinations, diferent work athmosphere, etc)

    The concessions are

    www.hardingbros.co.uk

has some 40 ships, phone interviews, very easy to get in.

your salary is higher, but you only get comissions if you hit specific group targets.

    and:

    http://www.starboardcruise.com/

Its bigger, some 80 or 90 ships, including Carnival, Royal, Celebrity, Costa...

    Interviews are face to face.

Salary is very low, but you make comission weather hitting targets or not, goes up if you do hit them off course.

Also targets are individual, so the work everironement is more competitive.

I would try hardings first. They are UK based and always need more people. Also since its smaller, has a cosier athmosphere. Also they grew a lot recently, so promotions into management are a lot easier (Individual cabin, Officer status, etc)

    Hope it helps.

For positions with reception, guest relations, shore ex, etc, go directly to the cruise line you want to work for.

I dont see a lot of diffence between the large ones as far as salaries, status, labour rights, etc...
