Hey I am 13 years old, I am obsessed with horses but ride once a week for just simple lessons. I want to do showing sooo bad. I think the kind I want to do is called "Hunt Seat" and I guess I'd be a junior. Here, an example is like, in the movie "Moondance Alexander" I want to do the showing he was doing. How do I get involved???? Its confusing. Do I sign up somewhere? or somthing??

  1. Hey, I have a horse and I do shows. Whos horse do you ride? You should probably ask your instructor. I've never heared of something called Hunt Seat. I think you mean like Hunter Jumper but I'm not sure. Also it depends on where you live and what type of shows go on nearby. You're going to need permission to use someone's horse in a show. You may want to consider riding more often as many people that go to shows ride very often. You have to find out when the shows are and then you can go to the show office and sign up. There are usually entry fees for each class, and fees for boarding your horse there, but you don't board your horse at the location of every show. For the "A" Circuit shows you need a show jacket and blouse. You'll also want to make sure the horse you're riding looks neat and tidy. For hunters you will need to have their mane braided but not for jumpers. It's a lot of work, but it's very rewarding in the end. Good luck! =)

  2. there are so many websites you can go to.  I don't know where you live so i won't give you any websites, but check with your trainer, and other local barns.  I do the junior hunt seat classes at shows.  You go online, and print off an entrie form with information about you and your horse. then submit it by the deadline, and you pay the fees at the show.  you'll need a horse trailer and show clothes ect.  if you know lots of show people then you'd probebly know the shows when they are.

  3. Join 4-H! its soo fun!  you can show any and all animals and projects.  contact your local extension office for more info on 4-H near  you.

  4. join 4-h..u can go tto the meating and all and get involved it talkes years to get it good enouph to show i know im 13 to and i dont show yet yes i do show jumping but not just hunnter....not yea and 4-H was the best thing for me to join

  5. the showing done in moondance alexander is jumping

but im thinking you'd be talking about hunt seat.

ask your trainer if you can enter one of the horses you ride in lessons in a local show, your trainer should be able to pick one out for you, or give you a few to pick from

  6. as your trainer! most barns have great connections and take there students to shows!

  7. join 4h or the wsca wsca whoukd be better im 13 and have been showing with wsca since i was 8 go to wsca.org to find clubs near you

  8. Check the barn bulletin board. Also, ask your instructor if there are any local shows. Also ask if there's a pony or 4H club. You do not need ur own horse though if u dont want to join one of those clubs. Start out with small shows then move on to the bigger ones. The smaller, the more casual. That should help depending on how u like to ride

  9. Get with a lesson program at a stable that sponsors and puts on shows and allows students to ride the lesson horses in the shows.

  10. You need to have your own horse, but you can join 4H.  They are involved in horse shows all the time.  Check at the place you have your lessons, they might have some horse shows coming up.  Many places that give lessons also have their pupils participate in horse shows - check around.
