  1. In Messenger 8.x, go to Messenger > Preferences > Yahoo! Music, then uncheck the box that says "Do not play songs with explicit lyrics."

If you listen in YMJ, in YMJ sign in, then click on your Yahoo ID above the My Account button to open your Music Profile.  Then click on the Edit button in the My Listening Preferences section.  Finally, when the My Listening Preferences page opens, click the Yes radio button next to "Allow Explicit Lyrics".

If you listen in the IE browser player at music.yahoo.com, go to the Yahoo Music home page and sign in if you aren't already.  Then start playing a station in order to open up the player window.  On the player pop-up window, click the "Help and Options" tab.  Then click the "Edit explicit lyrics preference" link.  That brings up a page in the main browser window where you click the button that says "Yes, play songs with explicit lyrics."  Finally, click the Save button.  (I believe you can bypass some of these steps if you sign in to your station, then go to http://music.yahoo.com/launchcast/prefs.... )

I think if you change the setting in one place (Messenger, YMJ, or the pop-up player window), then that change will appear in the other two automatically.  You don't actually have to go in and change the setting in all 3 places.
