How do I get licensed in different state for Cosmetology?

I am a licensed hairstylist in the state of PA. How does that work getting my license in another state such as New York or Ohio for example. I've been out of school for some time and can't remember exactly and I havent found any good resources online about this. Would I have to go back to school to complete extra hrs needed and take exam for a different state?
