It's a long personal story - so I will cut short to the question which I asked. Please tell me how it works and how I apply - my mother is on it already for her SSI she is physically disabled. I may have PD (I think I have delayed its onset and that is a LONG story) any who my question is (I need to get on some kind of disability because I have a lot of problems but I still want to work and find a job some where even if it's mcdonalds..I do not care work is work!)

  1. Actually, your question is very complex.  You can apply with the Social Security office at any time for disability benefits, but a claim for disability has to be backed up by a qualifying medical diagnosis.  Be prepared to undergo vigorous testing to prove your claim.  Social Security will pay for the testing, but, if you have no previous medical records proving your diagnosis, you will have to have testing done by a doctor or facility approved by Social Security.  If you are approved for disability, you may still make additional money each month without giving up your benefits.  When and if you are approved, they will tell you how much extra each month you are allowed to make...just ask them.

Medicaid is a different story.  It is administered by your state's Department of Human Resources, and that is where you have to apply.  If approved, medicaid pays medical, dental, and medication costs.  To qualify for medicaid, you are severely limited on income and assets you may possess.  Generally speaking, you are allowed to own a house and a car, but there are limits even to that, pertaining to the value of the property, etc.  They will factor in all other property you may own, bank accounts, savings, even cemetery plots or burial insurance.  All you can do is apply and see if you qualify.

    Good luck.

  2. If you want to live on very little money per month that is your path in life. Call your local medicaid office they can help you.

  3. Im not sure where you are located but just do a medicaid search and you will be able to do one for your state. But the good thing about medicaid these days is your app is online and they will call you shortly after that. They have job placement assistance too. good luck!!

  4. Go to your local dhs office to apply for medicaid. You may need to get a doctors note stating all medical conditions.
