How do I get melted wax out of a velour blaket?

My 2 yr old was at my girlfriends house and knocked over a black-purple candle onto her off-white velour blanket,help.

  1. Freeze the wax.  It will break off without any problem.  If you heat it, it will melt into the fabric and it will be harder to get it all out.

    Throw it in the freezer or lay something frozen on it.


  2. I like the previous answer better about freezing. Go with that.

    Warm up your clothes iron. Lay a paper towel between the blanket and iron. Lightly run the iron over the spot. You can do this with a hand held hair dryer also.

    The color (candle) may remain. Hope it helps.

    The only other options would be professional dry cleaning, which may not remove the wax and color entirely, or buying a replacement blanket.

  3. use iron on low heat setting...use a paper towel to absorb the wax as it melts

  4. Put a brown paper bag over the wax and then iron over the bag. The heat will melt the wax and the paper bag will absorb it out of the blanket.
