Everyday I help close contracts of employees that work for a major companies such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Qualcomm and other government agencies. I meet all of them, and I am sure they are not your average Joe's working at McDonald's or so. But putting their arrogances a side, I always wondered how they got such a job and what they do in their companies. One day, one customer left her personal bank account balance recite and her balance was $ 220,000. You can't beat that. How do I talk to them without embarrassing myself or them thinking why I should care what they do.

  1. Your question is almost impossible to decipher. What do you mean, "help close contracts"? What is your purpose in wanting personal financial information from these people?

  2. Your question is confusing to me.

Not sure what you are asking.

What kind of 'more' info do you want?...and WHY do you need it?

Sounds like you are in a lower paying job, and want to know how to get these higher paying jobs?

The fact that someone left a "...personal bank account balance recite and her balance was $ 220,000. "...probably is none of your business.

If you are wondering what it takes and how to get a better job...JUST ASK!  Ask if they enjoy their work.  Ask what they had to do (education/experience...etc.) to QUALIFY for the job.  Ask what their recommendations would be that YOU do to qualify.  (Probably a lot of education and / or experience)

You could approach them with something like this:

"Do you mind if I ask a personal question about your job?"

    or...

"Your job sounds interesting...How can I get a job like that?"

or... something like that.  You needn't feel embarassed about asking such.

I certainly would NOT mention anything about the $$$ amount on a 'receipt' you found to anyone - (that is not your business - nor anyone elses')

    If they don't / won't / can't answer...don't take personally.  Some people simply aren't allowed to talk.

As far as the 'receipt' you found...That's none of your business, and really doesn't mean a lot anyway.  (I always get receipts that show WAY more than what's actually in my acc't.)

I doubt anyone else would be embarassed if you ask questions...(provided you don't get personal...such as mentioning how much $$$ someone makes!)

But then, I'm just 'guessing', because your question is not clear.
