How do I get music off my iPod to iTunes

I need to format my computer soon but I want to keep all my music

once I've formated is there a way to sync my music back onto itunes

  2. You should try a program by Tansee call "IPOD  Transfer", http://www.tansee.com/. It runs about $20.00 at the site,  but there is also a free trial download there.  It was a real lifesaver when I lost a hard drive with over 5000 songs on it. I just transferred my iPod to a new hard drive.  Hope that helps.

  3. The best way to do this is to back up your music before hand onto dvds or an external hard drive. If this isn't an option to you there are 2 ways to transfer songs off of your iPod and back into iTunes.

    If all of your songs are purchased from iTunes then you can use the "transfer songs from <iPod name>" command in the file menu.

    If you have songs that weren't purchased from iTunes you have to use 3rd party software. There is a good tutorial on the Apple Mentor website:
