My son is 21 months and is hitting. How do I get him to stop? I don't hit him back when he smacks me but I do let him know its wrong.

Is he too young for a time out in the naughty chair?

  1. Definitely do a time-out or take away some of his playtime.

  2. No he is not too young for time out...a minute per age...so that would be two minutes.

  3. Try the 1-2-3 timeout method. It works wonders and details can be found here: http://www.morganpsychotherapy.com/123_t...

    good luck!

  4. No, he's not too young for time out. Tell him that if he hits that he will have to have a time-out and cool-down because hitting isn't nice. Tell him that hitting hurts and make sure he understands. I agree with you to not hit him back, because that makes him think it's ok if mommy does it. If he continues to hit when you warn him not to, take something away. Let him know that he has consquences. Hope this helps!
