Question:

How do I get my 23mo old to stop nursing?

I know that sounds awful. I do not want to keep nursing my child, (I would LOVE to be done!)but sometimes that is all she will drink. She eats solid foods, drinks from a sippy, never took a bottle. I don't offer to nurse, but she pulls on my shirt. And when you are in public, that is truly embarrassing. If I don't give into her requests she screams so hard she throws up. One mother I spoke to said that her sister had the same problem and rubbed some kind of leaf on her nipples that made them taste bad to her kid, but didn't irritate them. But she couldn't remember what kind of leaf it was. Anyway, help! PLEASE!

  1. It may be time to consider it as a disciplinary issue. Your child needs to learn early that screaming and pitching a fit in public is not the correct way to behave. This is true no matter what the issue behind the behaviour is, nursing or whatever. Talk to your pediatrician, and by all means consult other, older mothers. These are the people who know what works. Good luck!
