Question:

How do I get my 3 month old to take longer naps? ?

This past week my 3 month old has not been taking long enough naps. He only goes down for about 30-45 minutes at a time and wakes up cranky. He sleeps well at night and goes down easily for his naps.

Do I let him cry? Do I pick him up? Do I feed him right away? They forgot to give me the instruction book for him when I left the hospital :) Any suggestions?

  1. Unfortunately, he will sleep as long as he wants. When mine did that (and there were times I'd have killed for a whole 30 minutes), I just waited him out. If something was medically bothering him, I knew cuz he'd wake way too soon for me (when he was teething he didn't sleep more than ten minutes at a time for weeks). I just sucked it up, cried, and put him down for the next nap earlier (added an extra nap each day).

  2. Don't pick him up right away because he may not be ready to get up.If you want him to sleep longer, have like a semi bedtime routine. BTW, there isn't any instruction book, I tried to get one too.LOL

  3. if you are feeding him then putting him straight to bed then he could be waking up because he has wind. remember that he is growing and his sleep patterns will continue to change. every child is different so dont compare him to others.
