I am wanting to be able to go out on a date with my husband for my birthday (August 12!). The only thing that is holding us back is our 7 week old baby breast feeding. Don't get me wrong I enjoy breast feeding very much, however it is nice for my husband and I to have some together time and she will not take my milk from a bottle, only my breast. How do we get our baby to take a bottle of my milk?

  1. My daughter only liked the Mam bottles by Sassy, and even then she wouldn't take a bottle if I was in the room.

I would give your husband a bottle to give the baby and leave sometime around feeding time.

And I wouldn't necessarily make it a super long date but even if the baby doesn't eat for 4 hours or so he/she will still be fine just make sure to nurse when you get home.

Babies won't starve themselves they will go hungry for a little while.

(When I had to put my daughter in daycare when she was six weeks old, I had to take bottles with expressed breastmilk, she wouldn't drink but one or two 4 oz bottles in an eight hour day but she nursed like crazy when I picked her up.)

  2. maybe you're too sour. mix your milk with Nesquick

  3. She will not take it from you--she knows you've got the goods! You can't be around and your husband, mom, whatever need to try it each day leading up to your date night. It's also possible to replace a night feeding or a feeding with one bottle each day so she will be used to taking one. She just can't see or sense you around when she's taking it. If she's truly hungry, she'll take the bottle from Daddy--she'll just cry off and on for awhile first.
