How do I get my American wife into AFL, Cricket, and V8 Supercars?

Here's the background: I'm Aussie and my wife is American, I'm trying to find the best way to get her interested in Aussie Sports like AFL, Cricket, and V8 Supercars.

mate, just take her to the footy for a start, the cricket, well i wouldn't bother with the test matches, but take her to a one day game, she should have fun there, she would have to enjoy the footy once she has watched it a few times, live is always better, my daughter won't sit on the couch and watch the footy but goes off her head when she is at the game.

v8's, same thing i guess, just take her along, although taking me to church or shopping, things i do not get into wouldn't help, if all else fails, how much is a one way plane ticket back to the good ol US of A. lol

show her the calendars of AFL players and the promo shots of Bing Lee, Michael Clarke et al ...but no fair if you complain that she spends the match going phwOOOOAR every thirty seconds.

Seriously.....explain what the basics are and find her a hero on whatever side you barrack for, that usually does the trick.

I"m female by the way, and have interested my women friends in sports by this method.

Though i don't know how well it works if the female is g*y - that's not your problem I suppose.

It may be difficult to interest women in car racing. Small men in carburettors on wheels.Yecch. Even without the flat caps!

ask my wife suze on your 360 page she has more knowledge of want woman like... but with cricket i think you will have a uphill battle...

Tell her at the footy the players are nude and the jumpers & shorts are painted on them.

For the V8 Supercars, tell her they have men holding the brolley's on the grid before the start.

For the cricket, tell her she can see someone bowl a maiden over and that you can see spinners turn their balls like no one else.

My gf is half japanese and had never seen an Aussie Rules game.  So I took her to the Geelong - Port Adelaide Grand Final.  The whole thing blew her away.  

OK she's convinced and now she even backs the right team!!!

So pick a good game or race and take her along.  She'll love it once she gets it.

don't indulge her in the fact that us blokes don the flanny and the beater whilst hitting the green monsters hard no matter who's playing. try to ease her in before humoring her with those minor details

Um, I am aussie born and bred and not really interested in those sports either....

The best thing my husband could do is get us both into a corporate box and then I would be interested ...... just a little bit.

Take interest in something she likes as an example say she loves watching American sport (Baseball etc) watch that if her and give it a chance and I am sure she will give you a chance
