Question:

How do I get my Samsung player to turn on?

I have a Samsung BD-P1400 player and I wanted to try it for the first time today. I plugged in the HDMI then the power and the standby light switched for a second before going out. I have pressed the power button numerous times and tried unplugging then replugging it but the power will not turn on. This is very upsetting as it was my belated Christmas gift.

I have called Samsung customer service but they told me that tech support is unavailable and they won't be able to help me today so I was hoping I could find the solution here since I really want it fixed before I go on a business trip tomorrow.

  1. Check a different outlet just to be sure. Especially if you have an old house and the plug fits very loose in the outlet.

The DVD player is most likely defective. I doubt there are any fuses blown inside as it costs more money to open up a DVD player and replace a fuse than it does for the factory to make a new one.

Good for them... Bad for you...

Take it back if you can. You should have up to 14 days to return it if it. Possibly longer if it is defective. CHeck their return policy on the back of the receipt.
