Question:

How do I get my Sony Bravia KDF-46E300 to show my widescreen movies on the whole screen?

So when i got this tv on the display model the movie was playing on the entire screen without any distortion.....this is a widescreen tv so why when i watch movies is there black all the way around...when my boyfriend plays his xbox or ps3 there is no black....but for movies there are always black bars.the movie doesnt fill the screen

  1. go into the main menu and assign the format to match the source..what is your source? is it hd ? if it is than your boyfriend is hogging up all the good input connections. I'm more curious to find out how a guy with an xbox and a ps3 even has a girl fiend...aweee... come on I'm only kidding

If  you are getting "black all the way around" you have set your DVD  player to a 4:3 screen format.  Set the format to 16:9.  However, you may still see black at top and bottom depending on the way the DVD was produced.  Most movies are wider than 16:9 and will not fill a 16:9 screen.  However, some DVDs crop off the sides of the picture and expand it so that it fills the screen.
