Recently my housemate washed a new purple hoodie, and I put a white load in afterwards and they all came out a funny pinky colour.

How do I get rid of the weird colour and get them bacl to bright white?

I assume using bleach would be the best option but i don't know what type to use, can i use normal household stuff?

  1. normal household stuff will eat away at the fabric :P

use nappy san, or any commercial soaker and if all else fails..buy a fabric dye and dye it..the good thing about the second option is you get to pick the color of it :)

  2. You need a product called Color Remover...it's made by Rit.  You can find it in the grocery store, on the laundry aisle.  Follow the instructions on the box.  I really wouldn't use bleach, because if it was strong enough to remove the pinkish color, it's also weakening the fibers of your clothes.

Another tip for getting clothes bright white when you are bleaching:

Add 1 cup of baking soda (lg. loads) to the wash.  It increases the whitening power of the bleach, and helps to remove odors.

During the rinse cycle (as it's filling up) add in 1 cup white vinegar.  This part is really just for removing odors.

  3. Normal bleach could help but try something gentler to start with like napisan or look in your supermarket for a dye remover - they are with the dyes in the laundry aisle.

please try these before you use bleach as bleach is very harsh and the hoodie is new

  4. There's a product available at big supermarkets like Coles or Safeway that is made specifically for that purpose called Dylon Fabric Care - RUN AWAY - Colour Run Remover. There are 2 available, one that is for white only and one that is completely safe to use on coloured fabrics. I've used them both and the results were pretty good. I'm not sure if it will work on fabrics that have been already air or tumble dried though. Good luck.

  5. Try washing with bleach and oxiclean both

  6. I'd soak them in Napisan for the recommeded time on the bottle.

This should get out the stans, if not, then I would try bleach

  7. try white vinegar about a cup to a load of laundry and let it soak for about an hour.

  8. Bleach only solution.

Or use bleach or you can already throw them away.

  9. Use bleach the only option if u want brilliant white.

I use White King- specifically for cloths - do not mistake it for other normal bleaches as they are to toxic for cloths.

Look down laundry aisle White King for Cloths.

    Good Luck

  10. put the white into black
