How do I get my belongings from one state to another if I've already moved?

I was in MI. I'm in Cali. I need to have a few belongings shipped here. I have a few clothing items, about 20 books, a suitcase, and two boxes of stuff. Any suggestions? I will NOT be using the services of PODS.COM (WAY TOO EXPENSIVE-3,000 DOLLARS!!)

Your choices are:

1. Go to MI, get your stuff, and drive back to CA.

2. Have family or friends pack and ship your stuff.  UPS ground is fairly cheap -- depending on weight, a suitcase full of clothes, box of books and a couple more boxes shouldn't be more than a couple hundred dollars, but someone is going to have to pack it, label it, take it to UPS.

3. Hire a moving company to pick up your stuff and deliver it.

The books can be sent  through the post office...book rate... if they are the only things in the box...much cheaper that way. Ask a friend to pack other stuff, take it to a place like mail boxes are us...they will give him the rates for post office, UPS, DHL, etc and he can choose the cheapest one.
