How do I get my boats back from my girlfriend's house?

I moved out 6 mos. ago and want my boat back now. We also bought another boat, each paying half. I have the receipts. She refuses to pay me half and is keeping both boats. How do I get them legally back, or get her to pay me for them?

You sue her and unfortunately by legal definition of stealing you can't just go over there and take them although she wouldn't have much in court, so suing or having a warrant issued by a judge and executed by an official would be your best bets.

I'd call the police (non-emergency) and ask if you should have an officer with you when you retrieve your boat (it is your boat completely, correct?)

The 50/50 boat will likely have to go to court.  MY guess is it will be sold, and profits split at this point.

I assume here that these are kayaks or a similar small personal boat, as it sounds like she has them locked up or enclosed somehow.

Sue her. You have reciepts of payment, therefore it's your property.

Heres the Key question... is the boat registered under your name?? if so,, just go over & take the boat, adv police you are retrieving you property from her yard. if the boat is under her name.. Well thats another matter. you would have to take it to court and let them determine the outcome.

Have you tried talking to her about it, maybe you both can agree on an amount, either pay her back what she paid or she keeps a boat and pays you... maybe..
