Question:

How do I get my car's radio buttons unstuck?

I know this may be a futile attempt, but my car's (1982 LeBaron Convertible) radio buttons are all stuck. When we got the car, it was in pretty bad shape. My grandparents were unable to drive it and it was sitting in their yard for probably close to 4 years. It is running fine now, but needless to say, some things are not up to snuff.

The radio works, but the buttons are all pushed in and I can't even push them a little to make them work. The only button I can get to work is the scan button and the volume and tuning k***s. Is there some way to pop the buttons back out? I think my dad tried taking the radio out to have a look but he never figured out how.

  1. you can try spraying the buttons with some kind of lubricant

  2. This was a common problem with these radios. There is a rubber part in the switches that holds the contact that has failed. The only way to fix it is to replace the switches.
