How do I get my car set up for XM radio?

I have a Chevrolet Impala LT that shows to have the XM radio option to it on the radio. What do I do to get it set up? I don't have a little black box on top of my car though? What's the best way to get me setup so I can enjoy the benefits of XM radio?

Does your car have a "shark fin" or other little bump (the same color as your car's paint) in the middle of the rear roof?  That is your satellite radio antenna along with your On-Star antenna, and whatever other services your car has.

On your stereo, are you able to switch to XM mode on your stereo?  If so, see if you can hear channel 1, the preview channel.  If you can, you are good to go.  Then you just call XM to activate your radio and set up a payment plan.
