How do I get my cat to stop chewing on my blinds?

I have a fat cat who I really want to lose weight. Thing is, if she doesn't get fed she starts chewing on the strings to my blinds. She has rendered many of them inoperable :( I've tried spraying them with bitter orange but that didn't work. Any suggestions on what I can do / put on the blind strings to deter her from chewing them?

Spray it with a stream of water.  Adjust the blinds to where you want them, the tie the cords to a height the cat cannot reach.

Well, for starters starving your cat isn't exactly going to solve his weight problem.

He's gnawing on **** for a REASON. Feed him something. They have special food for that.

Here's a thought, don't starve your cat! You can't do that with cats, if they lose weight too quickly there can be all kinds of complications! Get the cat some high protein, low carb food and get the blind strings out of her reach if possible.

by not getting fed, you mean whenever she wants cos she used to be fed all the time? right? not that you don't feed her at all.... if i am right you might wanna add this as an additional detail as people may get upset thinking you are starving your cat, but if you are staving your cat i agree with everyone else!

probably the best thing to go is to move them out of reach..... you can put them little hooks up to tie them round (like a figue of 8 or a 0).

you could try distracting her everytime she chews them and get her to chew something else like a toy, maybe buy her a toy that is similar.....like those string fishing rod type toys with feathers or toys on the end..... my cat loves chewing those!

You could try tying the strings up higher, or squirt a little bit of tabasco sauce on them.

First of all start feeding her 4 tablespoons of a high protein cat food I reccomend http://www.evopet.com/ twice a day. Also give him a chew top like a catnip stuffed thing or something.

A cup a day is too much!!!
