How do I get my clothes clean?

I use tide laundry detergent, and downy fabric softner, but my clothes still seem to hold oder. So my question is what is the best way to get my clothes fully clean. What detergents will be the best extractants for stains caused from general wear.

Oh and for the record I am a guy :)

Ok pretreat stains. have a woman do your laundry, you're doing something wrong! Tide is the best detergent you can get, it's #1 in america! Use more detergent if your clothes smell after washing them. Wash them on the regular cycle and make sure you're using enough water per the load. Good luck!

try arm & hammer laundry soap, and snuggle fabric softener.

had the same problem when i first washed my clothes..my white clothes even went blue........so what did i do after the 4th time?

i started taking  it to a dry cleaner....solves my problem till this day

When washing my clothes I add a cup of arm n' hammer baking soda to the water.

I use Tide and Downy and Clorox all color bleach.

It sounds like a lot but my clothes come out fresh and clean.

I buy the x-large sized baking soda at Costco or Sam's.
