I have a 1 year old hand fed cockatiel that I got from a great breeder, and it didn't take long for him to transfer his bond to me, and it is such a strong bond that whenever my boyfriend (that lives with me and plays with and sees him everyday) or any of my friends attempt to hold him, he immediately finds the shortest route to my shoulders. I've tried sitting with my friends (one of my friends comes over almost daily) and sitting across the room but no matter what I try, he always comes back to me. I think he's jealous, but he gets LOTS of time outside of his cage and on a custom shelf/play gym we built (its really cool and he loves it!) and lots of time with me as well as a head scratch or us saying his favorite words he says every time we go by, "Hey Dude" (his name is Dude :) ). I love him and I just want him to be able to enjoy our friends company, and I also want for him to quit biting my boyfriend immediately after a good head scratching. Any suggestions?

  1. put its cage in a spot where alot of people walk by so it will start to feel safer around other people

  2. you probally cant stop it i wouldnt want to.because he feels like your his mom and he dont like to be help (or perched) by any one els.you should leave it as it is he loves you when your friends come or your boyfriend just put him in his cage or hold him as long as he is not attacking them it will be fine.
