I just purchased a HDC-DX1 AVCHD camcorder. I took some pictures with it and I am unable to get my computer to recognize it when it is plugged in via the USB cord. The manual does give any good suggestions to get it to recognize. The same UBS ports recognize my digital camera, mp3 player, mouse....

  1. when you connect the camcorder to the usb and turn it on do you see a icon show up in the lower right corner near the clock? if not you might have to change modes on the camera to the red camera on the mode wheel. you have to have the memory card installed in the camcorder with it turned on and in the right mode    sometimes. but the camera should tell you to switch modes if your in the wrong one. if you never see or hear the camera connect to the computer then the usb cable might be at fault.

  2. You have to turn the camera on the vcr/ pictures section of the camera. If your computer isnt recognizing it than just use a different computer if you can. Also, you have to have a type of software that is compattible with your camera.
