Question:

How do I get my cousin to eat veggies?

My cousin's parents split up about 4 years ago and she is THE PICKIEST EATER i have met. She only eats chicken nuggets and french fries from Chick-Fil-A and pizza. Im pretty sure the reason why she eats these is they are comfort food. Today I introduced her to peas and corn, they were the sweet kind, and she still didn't eat them. It is very annoying to see this happen and I dont like the fact that her dad does not inforce her to try new things. Any ideas?

  1. You can say if you eat those vegatables they will give you super powers like flying or super strenghth or you could say they are magical vegatables that will turn you into a animal, princess, fairy. It worked for my brothers.Or you could do the last thing and say don't eat your veggies because it will turn you into a princess or make you be able to fly

  2. get out toothpics and make veggie people for snack but you got to eat them when your done!!! Use alot of veggies and peas and corn for hands and feet. Carrots for the torso, cherry tomatoes for the heads! Try it and see!!

  3. Hide the veggies.   Check out books like the Sneaky Chef and "Deceptively Delicious".  They describe really good ways of sneaking in healthy food into yummy looking ones.

Casseroles and sauces are excellent for hiding pureed vegetables.  My favorite is I throw a jar of store bought spaghetti sauce in my food processor and just start tossing in vegetables like green peppers, carrots, broccoli, zucchini, etc etc.  You can't even taste them and the processor makes them so tiny you can hardly see them.

It's so wonderful that you are looking out for the health of your cousin! Good luck.

  4. i mad it a game for my son and he loved it. i can get my son to eat them but i can not his dad to eat them lol

  5. Well when i was little i made the corn into the shape of anything i really like! Then i thought the butter was chocolate or caramel.

  6. Try taking her to the supermarket and asking her to chose a vegetable to try! Or story books are good for introducing small children to vegetables. Cbeebies is good for programmes on healthy food. (Big cook, Little cook) and you can buy the recipe books.

If you're concerned about her nutritional intake, Heinz do baked beans with hidden veg, they taste much nicer than regular baked beans. At least she wont no they are in there plus beans can be counted as one of your 5 a day!!

  7. The child is 4 years old for goodness sake.  It will "only" eat fried and fatty foods because adults allow this to happen!!

When I was a kid, we ate what was on our plates.  No one was allowed to leave the table until we were all finished.  End of story.

I appreciate having had this style of parenting to this day.

It made me strong and taught me proper nutirtion (variety is key to good health) and not to waste food!

  8. there are a lot of really good recipes that help hide veggies..

  9. broccoli with cheese. kids love cheese. also slice cucumber and raw green beens.

  10. look up recipes that have veggies in them such as dips. don't tell her what is in it though. aside from that a nice dessert that has carrots in it is a carrot cake (there isn't much, but something is better than nothing). if you are not old enough to cook these things, then i would suggest you leave the topic alone with her. i used to hate veggies too, but as i got older, i started eating them.
