  1. Give them a discount... if they bring in X amount of referrals you'll give them a free cut?? something like that.

  2. service

  3. By making what you do unquestionably the best that is available or at least for your customers to believe that after visiting your salon.

Believe me, if your salon is good then the word will get around.

Hand out cards, with discount if you can afford it, train any staff so that you sing the same song, free tea and coffee and keep to the things you do well.

    Best of luck

  4. You should def. have a refer-a-friend system. Hand out little brouchure/card things that say if you refer a friend (and the friend has to give you their friend's name) then the one referring AND the one coming in will both get 10% discount on ANY job.  That will get business. It's not that your business is bad (or you may have to step up "your game") but remember that the economy is suffering and EVERYTHING is getting more expensive and people are now trying to find ways to save money and getting a haircut, while it may be important to many people, a lot of people can just get their hair cut by their friend or themselves to save money so don't get down, just make some great deals for awhile till you build business back up. Spring deals! lol

    hope all works well. =]

  5. Display the following notice by your till:

If you like what we do for you - tell others.

If you don't - tell us.

Always smile, be friendly and welcoming.  Give a good service and you should do well.

  6. Have you asked them to recommend you? Costs nothing, and generates surprising results!

  7. Two good tips I use...

Send your customers a Xmas Card with a voucher for THEM to use in the quiet times after Xmas, along with a tearoff 'Recommend a Friend' voucher to pass to a friend/relative. You are thanking them for their custom in the previous year and giving them something that will benefit someone else aswell.

People love recommending... it is a simple thing to learn to just remember to 'Ask' them. Perhaps have one of those cheesy signs to remind customers that if they have a problem or are not satisfied with the haircut they must tell YOU, otherwise, if they are happy they must Tell a Friend!

You have to educate your customers that you rely on recommendations and that is the cheapest form of advertising... if you don't have to advertise much, then your prices remain keen... a win-win situation for you and an incentive for the customer.

  8. Offer incentives:  You could tell your customers that they would get a 10% discount if they actually bring a friend with them for the next service, then give them and the friend a $2 off card for a selected services such as a basic hair cut!  If you get a new customer you could ask that person whom you have the privledge for their business, then tell them if they are happy to refer a friend.

  9. The young lady who has been doing my hair for almost 10 years.  I have sent her so many customers she fells bad charging me.  She asked me how I do it.  My answer is "You do it"  my hair looks great always and when asked how I manage it  I give them the name of the beauty salon and owner.   I don't mind recommending her because she is good, reliable, efficient and the shop is extremely clean and reasonably priced.

  10. If you do something out of the ordinary that they will talk about it to their friends (have 1 day with nothing but free haircuts for everybody, or make coupons that are like half off and only make so many coupons and hand them out to your customers, or do something crazy with the inside of your shop). They will talk about it and tell their friends.

  11. Give them a couple of cards. Old ladies love to gossip and will hand them out when their hair starts getting talked about

  12. Definately give out discount vouchers - make it really worth their while like half price cut & blow dry for your customer and their friend, or two for one offer.

My hairdresser has little notebooks printed with his salon name, address and phone number on them.  I used to use it at work for writing down information for my customers.  He's a great hairdresser, and I hope he got some business from it!

  13. give your customers a discount on services (for a limited time) offer some type of incentives for referring someone. Some ideas you can use give a $5 gift card 2 a fast food place or Starbucks or something. And offer the friend something as well.

  14. Easy : Offer your existing customer 5% or any discount on their next visit, Plus 5% off  or any to their referred friend who visit you. This will help you get attention and your customers would love to visit you again, and suggest people to visit you.

Else, do a complementary service or job, like give a head massage with hair cut.,something like this.

Give honest advice, look for long term relationship and always greet your visitors.

  15. Do a good job, they are walking advertisments, the word will get out, it just takes time.

  16. try getting your customers to review you on www.bview.co.uk. BView is a business search directory which gives customers a chance to review businesses to help others make more informed choices on who they do business with. Transparency in business is the name of the game!

Businesses can also take control of their business listing on Bview and use it as a way actively seek customer endorsements. By getting reviews, your businesses can be positioned amongst the best hairdressers in your area which will essentially help you business promote to new customers.
