Question:

How do I get my dog to stop biting?!?

My little dog always bites my bigger dogs legs, and I don't know why but she doesn't do anything about it. He bites her legs because we give her attention, and he gets jealous. I don't think hes trying to show hes more dominate because he only does it when we're petting the bigger dog etc. What can I do? I tell him NO but he still does it!

  1. try imitating what he does...honest it may cause him to stop

  2. Jealousy is a human characteristic, dogs do not experience this type of emotion.

You should contact a behaviourist or a professional trainer to help you out with this.

If its because of attention then it is dominance. But there may be more to it then just that which is why i suggest seeing a professional. They will have plenty of questions for you that will help narrow down what is going on and what is the best solution.

Add: doing what teaspoon suggest could cause the dog to act aggressively towards its owner. There are better solutions then what he/she suggested.

  3. go to a vet and ask them that.

  4. You could try putting a muzzle on the dog every time it bites. Just for like 5min then take it off, and no offense to pierced_chick123 but dogs experience more human emotions than you might think.

  5. I'd make the little dog sit down next to the big dog.

Pat the big dog.....if the little one goes for its legs, say NO loudly and then say sit.

When the little dog sits, praise it and give it lotsa love.

Keep trying until he gets the jist of sitting there and behaving gets me pats.

(btw this is my personal opinion on how i'd do it, i'm not a professional)

And biting a dog isn't a very good way of teaching it to behave. How do you know the dog wont turn around and bite you on the face?

  6. This may sound weird but throw him on his back and bite his ear, not hard, but enough to where he feels it. Do this the next time he does it. It works i promise.

  7. Teaspoon's not being mean, it's a good way to teach a dog that you're in charge, but it doesn't really apply to this situation.

The bigger dog obviously isn't bothered by the little dog, so just leave it alone. If the big dog gets annoyed it will let the little dog know.

  8. Scold him when he does it. When he bites, put him on his side and hold him there until he relaxes. Hold your hand to his neck like a mother dog biting him in the neck, not hard just enough so he feels it. You can also put him in another room when he does this, eventually he will catch on that he has to be on his best behavior if he wants to stay in the room with you.

  9. Swat the little ones nose or like pinch his/her leg about how hard he/she bites the bigger one.. It worked for my friend she had a teacup poodle and a golden retriver

  10. Whenever he bites... put your hand around his nose and mouth, slap him/her and say NO! or just go to a vet.

  11. um ask your vet.

thats weird your dog doesnt mind.

    usually they do.

    good luck.
