Question:

How do I get my electricity to work? It's out in a certain area only.?

In my kitchen all of the plugs on one side stopped working. I know nothing about electricity at all. I did open the box and just shut off everything, waited a minute, and turned it all back on. Still nothing.

My dishwasher, stove, storage room, and some plugs just don't work anymore. Yet the other side with fridge and microwave still work THANKFULLY!

I know if I call someone to repair this they will charge me ALOT. Is there anything I can do?

  1. Kitchen plugs - there's a high likelihood that you have at least one Ground Fault Interruptor outlet in your kitchen and it's also likely that several things are down stream of it.

Look around for a rectangular outlet with two buttons in the middle.  There'll be at least one and it'll probably be an outlet over the counter area (although it could be the one the fridge is plugged in to).  On the GFI there'll be a button that's labeled "Trip" and another labeled "Reset".  Press the "Reset" button and see if that fixes things.

  2. Reset the GFCI outlets. That's the electric outlets that are affected, they (or just one of them) are rectangle in shape and have two small buttons in between the outlets, one say "trip" the other says "reset". Push the reset button(s). Ta-da!....

  3. Check your breakers again. One of them has tripped.

Or you said this is a kitchen. Check the outlets to see is one is a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) if that trips all the other outlets past it stop working
