Question:

How do I get my ferrets to use their litter box again?

Both of my ferrets no longer use their litter box in their cage, and whenever we let them out they go straight to the nearest corner. Any helpful advice on how to get them to use their litter again? The only thing that's changed is their food (we constantly switch from ferret to cat food). I don't know what to do. Bandit is around 2yrs and Rascal is almost 1yr if that helps any. Thanks a bunch!

  1. First of all litterboxes are pretty cheap so buy a bunch to put in all the corners they go in. Second, if they start to back into a corner pick them up and stick them in thier cage in the litter box. If they have just woken up when you let them out I would set them in thier litterbox and have them stay in their cage for 10 minutes to see if they will go. If they won't you can let them out but make sure they go in a litterbox somewhere around the room.

Just as a side note I wouldn't feed your ferrets cat food. Ferrets have different nutritional needs than cats and ferret food is much better for them. Your ferrets will be a lot healthier and live longer with just ferret food. If you don't believe me post a question asking wheather or not to feed your ferret cat food and you will have more people saying not to feed your ferret cat food then people telling to feed your ferret cat food.

good luck litter training your ferret!

  2. why do you keep changing their food? that chould be the cause.
