How do I get my foot in the door?

In the Real Estate industry? I want to become a property manager and have a Diploma in Property (Real Estate) and Business Management and I need guidance on where to start?

Since most of the Property Manager job ads online ask for a few years experience but I'm fresh from college.

Anyone here who is (or knows someone who is) in Real Estate and if so, how did you/they start?

Thanks.

  1. Just get a certificate first, which takes like 2 months.  It costs like $150-$300 depending where you go.  But, once you get it, you can start applying for jobs.  And if they require a couple of years experience, you really cant forgo that.  And there is a reason why they need acouple years experience.  So, just work for someone after you get your certificate.  Its the only way.  The reason is, alot of newbies tend to fk up alot.  And if you worked in a small manufacturing plant, it may no cost much.  But in real estate, a small fk up can mean alot of wasted money.

  2. Some of the larger rental property development companies have entry level training programs for their apartment complexes.

I have several friends that got their start this way. Try Trammel Crow or Epoch for residential or a company like Highwoods for commercial.
