How do I get my hood release cable unstuck?

On my 96 Olds cutlass supreme, the hood release cable is stuck. How do I get it unstuck, or at least open the hood?

sometimes it helps to have someone push down on the hood while you pull the release.. once you get it open be sure and oil it.. other wise you are going fishing..
