How do I get my iPod to sync when my computer says "iPod cannot synced, the required disc cannot be found"?

I have a brand new iPod classic 80g and when I plug it into my computer to sync an error message pops up that says "iPod cannot be synced, the required disc cannot be found". I followed the instructions on the apple website to put it into disc mode and it didn't work. The same message popped up. Can anybody help me sync my iPod?

Forget iTunes, you don´t need it.

the same thing happened to me today and i already have 185 songs on my ipod. it's not your fault, i think you need to update your itunes.
