I moved out of a house a few months ago, but some important mail still goes there that contains my bank account details and such, and i have a few ebay packages there that were delivered late after I moved out. Nobody lives there at the moment (rented house) The mailbox is in the porch not the actual house but the porch door is locked. How can I get my mail? Thanks

  1. call the owner... since she's so far away, it's very likely she has an agent in your area that rents out the house for her and can show it, so thus has a key.... find out who the agent is, ring them up and go meet them to get your mail.....

  2. You need to call the owner and set a time to pick it up.You also need to get a change of address,

  3. Can you call the landlord or rental agent?  If you could meet them at the house (bring ID) you can probably get your mail.  If that won't work, try calling the post office, alert them to the change in address (you should have done this already) and see if they can help.  You may have to fill out a change of address form.  If that doesn't work, either, maybe the Police can help.  It is also possible that if your former landlord didn't know where you moved to, and neither did the Post Office, that your mail and packages were returned to the senders.  You might give the places you were expecting mail and packages from some calls to see if they can re-send your things.  Good luck!

  4. Go to the post office and fill out a change of address form. Mail will be forwarded to new address for one year. But, in the meantime, be sure to notify utilities, ebay, friends, etc. of the change. Post office has forms to notify people, too - I think.

  5. File a change of address and when you turn it in, let the post office know that some mail is at the house.  (Have you seen it there?) Usually, carriers won't deliver mail to vacant house.  If you've been gone a few months, most likely your mail has been returned to sender.  Carriers have to send mail back after 10 days of non-delivery. If you haven't filed a change of address, that is all they can do.
